Listen: Marley Carroll - Stay

Listen: Marley Carroll - Stay

The DJ / Producer releases the latest offering from his forthcoming EP, a downtempo and beautifully atmospheric piece equipped for both the lounge and the dancefloor

Acclaimed DJ and electronic music producer Marley Carroll has had a busy 2022 so far, dropping well-recieved club singles Heartbeats and Cathedral, and performing his captivating live set around North Carolina - a set that has seen his share stages with the likes of Floating Points, Bonobo and DJ Shadow and appear at festivals like Coachella, Decibel and Moogfest. With three full-length albums alongside multiple singles and remixes under his belt, Marley teases the release of a forthcoming EP with his latest track; Stay

Stay is a beautifully atmospheric piece. With layers of lush synths, some drawn-out and some sharp and melodic, the song transforms after about 30 seconds as the introduction of an infectious hip-hop beat kicks it up a gear. Bright with subtle melancholic undertones, It’s a track that can be comfortably placed on the dancefloor or for lounging around.

Stay started as a simple breaks-plus-sample hip-hop idea, but as I began digging into the production and adding elements, an emotional narrative arc emerged that made it feel more like a proper “song.” The vocals share a similar vibe with my recent tracks “Heartbeats” and “Cathedral,” but here they play the role of lead vocal, rather than being chopped up into club track textures.” shares Marley Carroll, continuing “For me, this song feels like the heartache of wanting someone to stay, and the little bit of freedom that comes from letting go.”

Out now, be sure to give Marley Carroll’s latest offering Stay a listen below, as we await the full EP’s release later this year.
