LANKS curated with a playlist with his Grandma for us and it's a beauty

Catch him on tour with Hein Cooper now, along with some big supports next year.

Recently announced as support for Toro y Moi and RÜFÜS, and currently rolling around the country with singer/songwriter Hein Cooper (dates at the bottom), Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist/producer LANKS is rounding out an already-huge 2016 in style. And rather than do a standard interview with the chap, instead he sent us a little 10-track playlist that he made in collaboration with his grandma, Valda Cuming.

Why? May you ask. Well besides the fact that it's just a bloody fantastic idea any way you look at it, Grandma Cuming is actually responsible for the artwork for LANKS' music! Check out some examples below:

86-year-old Valda Cuming is an established visual artist in her own right, and if you'd like to check out more of her work you can head to her WEBSITE, or follow her on INSTAGRAM and/or FACEBOOK.

And while you're looking around, why not chuck on this playlist, featuring five tracks from both Grandma Cuming and LANKS:

Valda Cuming (Grandma): Here is a playlist I put together of five of my favourite songs. I used to sing Old Shep to my children when they were very little, but they never wanted to hear the Elvis version. They preferred mine.

1. Elvis - Old Shep

2. Archy & Mehitabel - Carol Channing

3. Ella & Louis - Summertime

4. Chubby Checker - The Twist

5. Tennessee Waltz - (Elvis version)

LANKS: For this playlist I wanted to come up with five songs that complimented grandma's choices. These are all such amazing songs and stories, I know that my grandma and grandpa both share a love for Archy & Mehitabel. Grandma lent me a book of Don Marquis' comics and I found a beautiful inscription inside the cover from 21-year-old grandma to my grandpa. Here are my five:

1. Stan Getz - The Peanut Vendor

2. Nat King Cole - Don't Get Around Much Anymore

3. Charles Mingus - I.I.B.S

4. Dizzy Gillespie - Manteca

5. Duke Ellington/Mahalia Jackson - Come Sunday
