Premiere: Sophian - Georgia

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rockers aren’t ready to let go of summer on scintillating new single

Dropping a string of singles last year, including Head Above Water in December, West Aussie four-piece Sophian are on a roll as they ready their first single of the year, the soaring indie rock sounds of Georgia, out March 31 but premiering on Pilerats today.

Working with acclaimed producer and engineer Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studios (Spacey Jane, Sly Withers, Old Mervs), Georgia pulls you in from the opening blast of drums and guitar hook, before giving way to mellow-reggae inspired vibes. These vibes build into big, jubilant, indie rock choruses, with frontman Sophian Manik’s silvery vocals just begging to be sung along with.

Sophian explains the inspiration behind Georgia, saying "We are going behind a very beachy vibe. We want to inspire and spread happiness with this song. The song itself is about a sailor falling in love with a mermaid but finding it difficult to maintain the relationship given their differences. It's also a metaphor for what relationships in real life sometimes can be like. Things can be tough, but you can always work on turning them into something positive. We love the ocean and the beach. So, it was only natural for us to explore a song which would incorporate the ocean and also campfire vibes of bringing people together."

With a single launch at The Bird on Friday, May 5 and the single out March 31, give Georgia a sneaky first listen today!
