Nice of U 2 Turn Up Artist Spotlight: A$AP Ferg

Nice of U 2 Turn Up Artist Spotlight: A$AP Ferg

Fergenstein heats up your Friday evening

ICYMI, the Listen Out festival recently announced their lineup for 2016’s festival, and one particular name stood out as the single best reason to get inappropriately hyped for the festival to come around. That name? A$AP Ferg aka Fergenstein aka Trap Lord.

A member of the notoriously tremendous A$AP conglomerate, of which Ferg’s partner-in-crime A$AP Rocky is arguably the most successful, A$AP Ferg is a certified king (or, rather, Lord) of the Turn Up anthem - churning out party favourite after party favourite since stepping out from Rocky’s long shadow. Don’t believe me?

Here’s eight of them:

Hella Hoes - A$AP Mob

Fellas, what’s more enticing than an evening attempting to strut your stuff, fluff your feathers and impress the female Ostrich zipping around the town late at night? And ladies, you aren’t hoes, we all know that. But you sure are beautiful, and all the fellas turn their heads when you enter the room. Work it, embrace it. And weep for the A$AP Mob compilation album that almost was.

Doe-Active - A$AP Ferg

A$AP Ferg takes on his own formula of the famous Pro-Activ pimple cream from this cut taken from 2014 mixtape Ferg Forever, offering to clear up the ‘bump on your face’ with a wad of hundred dollar bills. A hyped up, energetic offering, Doe-Active finds A$AP Ferg… “Hold up, is that Adam Levine?”

New Level - A$AP Ferg ft. Future

The lead single for Ferg’s latest album Always Strive and Prosper, Fergenstein links up with Future Hendrix for this jam to take things to a whole new level of turned the fuck up. Similar to Doe-Active, the energy on New Level is what elevates the track to the anthem that it becomes, utilising the full extent of Ferg’s best attribute and taking Future along for the ride.

Shabba - A$AP Ferg ft. A$AP Rocky

Another energetic slice from the A$AP pairing, this ode to legendary dancehall icon Shabba Ranks has been a party anthem for years. “Sh-Shabba Ranks” is downright anthemic at this point, with this huge collaboration between Ferg and that Pretty Motherfucker still, arguably, the Trap Lord’s most successful release.

Yammy Gang - A$AP Ferg & A$AP Mob

This ode to the sadly deceased A$AP Yams, also taken from Ferg’s latest full-length, is the perfect posse cut to get hyped to with your closest pals. You’re all the ‘Yammy Gang’ when this anthem plays, and A$AP Ferg is your humble leader. Follow him and party on into the night like there’s no tomorrow.

Whiteline - Crystal Caines ft. A$AP Ferg

Work (Remix) - A$AP Ferg ft. A$AP Rocky, French Montana, Trinidad James & ScHoolboy Q

While Shabba might be Ferg’s most popular song, Work was still the jam that really announced him on the hip hop scene. Originally taken from the A$AP Mob mixtape Lords Never Worry, Work was such a breakout hit for A$AP Ferg that it found four hip hop heavyweights jumping on the remix to keep the buzz going. It’s a tasty jam, to say the least.

Yamborghini High - A$AP Mob ft. Juicy J

Another song dedicated to the late A$AP Yams and featuring the talents of multiple members of the A$AP Posse, Yamborghini High is the perfect point at which to end a turn up playlist and descend upon the night with all of your friends (or none of them if you’re feeling particularly frisky). It’s also a perfect example of A$AP Ferg stealing a song with his talents, as his verse on this banger is easily the standout amongst it all. Ferg forever!

And if you’ve been enjoying your turnt up Fridays through April to June, Pilerats are pleased to bring you the Master Playlist for Nice of U 2 Turn Up - full of all the huge names and huge sounds to tear your walls down and turn your parties up. Salute!
