Premiere: White Cliffs joins Foreign Family Collective, releases new two-side Heart Start / On Call

The newest addition to ODESZA's label is one of the most exciting electronic acts in the US right now.

Launched by Seattle electronic favourites ODESZA back in 2015, Foreign Family Collective have built themselves an arsenal of incredible musicians from the US and abroad, with names including Jai Wolf, Big Wild, Kasbo, Chet Porter, ODESZA themselves, and Australians in RÜFÜS, Golden Features and Yahtzel all flying the FFC flag across the past three years. Promising a very large 2018 ahead, today we're stoked to announce the latest signing to Foreign Family Collective in Brooklyn-based electronic musician White Cliffs, who joins the roster with his new two-side single Heart Start / On Call.

Featuring uplifting vocals from Ricky James, Heart Start is the perfect introductory point to White Cliffs if you're yet to be acquainted. It's a bright and summery electronic affair, with James' vocals feeling warm and at home above White Cliffs' guitar-infused production, driven by intricate percussion work and thick layers of lush synth. The single also arrives with the re-release of On Call, a woozy single by the New York multi-instrumentalist that features White Cliffs' own vocals – further establishing his talents as a musician.

It's also the single which led ODESZA to discover White Cliffs, which turns out to be a pretty big moment for the musician. "When I first heard ODESZA’s music I was just getting into production," says White Cliffs, real name Rafe Cohan, on the Foreign Family Collective signing. "They were one of the artists that I took a ton of influence from when it came to sound design and vocal manipulation, so getting a call from them this Fall was wild, to say the least. Recently I’ve been using a lot more live instruments in my songs, and on this upcoming tour, I’ll be playing guitar and some drums up there. Foreign Family’s artists and team are true professionals in every way, and I’m just super happy to be a small part of their story.”

Check out Heart Start below, and if you're in the US, be sure to check out White Cliffs supporting fellow Foreign Family flagbearer Big Wild over the next few months – dates below.
