It's time to get around Luboku and his vibrant new single, Without You

Get to know the Melbourne musician and his latest track a little better before he starts to dominate.

We've covered Luboku before, back last year when he was releasing his moody single The Surface. Now, he's well and truly one to keep an eye on in 2018, with the Melbourne musician following it up with something a bit more colourful and vibrant in Without You. Following on from his more moody and subdued productions, Without You is a lot bolder and more in-the-spotlight, uniting his typically intricate productions with a sound a touch more brighter than his previous work to create a magical track which you can just see will get a hammering late at night. "My interest in electronic music was first kindled in ’08 when there was a certain vibrancy to the scene," he says on the single. "On Without You, it felt important to pay tribute to these roots, I wanted to create something different from anything I had done before, I wanted it to be BOLD, grating, and full of tension - splicing those colourful trance elements with a more contemporary feel." Check out the single below, and get to know the musician a little better before he continues his Australian onslaught with more music to come in 2018:

Tell us about yourself?

I'm a producer/songwriter. Pretty much the sort you'd expect to hear about spending more time in dark rooms obsessing over tiny details of synths, sounds and structures than out in the real world - a bit of a musical vampire, I guess.

What’s the vibe music-wise?

The vibe is usually deep and dark - but I don’t stick with one sound for very long, change is a force that drives me.

What are your production and writing processes like?

I’ve found I actually write better if I’m not in a studio, I’ve started trying to write songs wherever I can just to see what happens. It produces some pretty wild results (good and bad haha).

Can you tell us about your new single, Without You?

I was really surprised how quickly everything fell into place on Without You. I generally work away at ideas, carving them out until they feel complete but Without You is basically the first draft of that idea, it just never felt like it needed more work.

Any shows coming up?

A couple of things in the pipeline, stay tuned for that, some very fun things to come.

What’s the rest of the year have in store for you?

There’s a lot of music on the cards, I’ve got another couple of singles coming out throughout this year at the least.

Where can we find more of your music?

Most of it is closely guarded on my hard drive for now, but you can find what I have released in all the usual places :)
