Listen to a funky new mix from Din Daa Daa ahead of RTRFM's Fremantle Winter Music Fest

RTRFM's 12th annual event takes over six Fremantle venues Saturday 16 June.

This Saturday 16 June RTRFM will be tripping down to Fremantle for the 12th annual Fremantle Winter Music Festival, taking over six venues from 7pm til late. Featuring 36 (!) acts across the new Guildhall Event Space, Mojos Bar, North Fremantle Bowling Club, The Railway Hotel, Port Beach Garden Bar, The Swan Hotel and The Swan Basement, it's gonna be huge night celebrating the sounds of port city.

Get the full low down HERE, and below you can meet one of the crews involved - Din Daa Da - who served up a tasty live mix for us to get you nice and warm before the fest kicks off tomorrow:

Tell us about yourselves:

Din Daa Daa is a collaboration between Blake Kelleway, Jaxon Lamond and myself, Nicole Filev. The idea developed in early 2016 and was launched in May at The Bird. The three of us are good friends and love to collect records. Jaxon and I are also passionate Disc Jockeys. Din Daa Daa has curated music nights across various licenced and private venues in Perth. We have also collaborated with local events and hosted local, interstate and overseas artists. Our recent collaboration with MOVE bringing Amp Fiddler to Perth in April this year would be a highlight for us.

What kinda tunes we talkin'?

Din Daa Daa is a unique night as the music we play varies from jazz, soul, disco, funk, house and is a blend of music from across the globe. The music resonates with those who like many genres and across cultures which we feel is quite unique.

Can you tell us about the new mix for the festival?

The mix is a blend of soul, funk, disco and house. We recorded it last Saturday night in Jaxon’s living room after having a few drinks. The mix was completed once only, in one take and is unedited. We wanted to only do it once and keep it unedited so that listeners can hear the authenticity in our mix and can have a true understanding of what is to be expected from our set this Saturday at Fremantle Winter Festival.

What do you have planned for the Winter Music Festival?

We are looking forward to spinning some of our much loved and rare records as well as playing some new released music from across the globe.

Where can we hear more from Din Daa Daa?

Keep an eye out on our event page to keep up to speed with what we have coming. In the meantime the sounds of Din Daa Daa can be heard on our Soundcloud, across various venues in Perth and the airwaves as both Jaxon and I frequently DJ as well as present on our local radio station - 92.1FM.
