Christopher Port's returning single, DTF, is a straight-up club banger

It's the first taste of his upcoming EVERYTHING IN QUOTES "LIGHT" EP, out via Future Classic/Pieater in August.

Since we met the exciting Melbourne producer over two years ago now, Christopher Port has become one of our favourite elite Australian beat-makers. There was his exciting and boundary-pushing Vetement EP which seemingly kicked everything off for Chris Port, paving the way for his Future Classic debut Nobody Chose You and its follow-up, the brooding and weighty Baby It's Not My Will - both taken from his Future Classic x Pieater release Everything in Quotes “Dark” last year. There was also a production credit for the emerging Annie Bass which soon blossomed into a two-track EP - one of the singles making our 'Best of 2018 so far' list earlier this year. Anyway, as long as his accomplishment list is already it's about to get longer, with the producer now announcing the follow-up to last year's EP in Everything In Quotes “LIGHT”, set to arrive once again through Future Classic and Pieater this August.

DTF is the first single from his new EP and simply put, it's a straight-up banger. The Jamie XX-esque intricacy of his past releases have made way for a sweeping bass line and lush synth melodies, which wobble and dance around playful vocal samples and a driving percussive section overflowing with hand claps and crisp snare. It's something you'd expect from one of Four Tet's more upbeat cuts, with twinkling melodies and stripped-back breaks giving the single those touches of refreshing relief that prevent it those pulsing drum kicks from becoming too relentless. Compared to his earlier work, DTF showcases a clubbier side of Christopher Port we always knew was there despite him never quite fleshing it out, displaying his production dexterity as he ups the tempo and aims his sights to the club ahead of the full, four-track EP to arrive on August 3rd.
