Beaming with a recently released third full-length record is Golden Guitar-nominated Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, Gretta Ziller. With a classically-trained background and rock, pop and blues-influences, Gretta's new album, All These Walls, revolves around love, self-belief, self-worth, and the journey of moving forward. As someone constantly scoping out Australia's music scene, Gretta Ziller joins the ranks of Australian Music Is Bloody Great to take us through some recent favourites.
Jen Mize & The Rough N' Tumble - Elevator Ride
Jen is originally from the US but has called Queensland home for over 15 years. She released her latest project with The Rough N' Tumble this year and it's a fantastic album. Get ready for a good old-fashioned earworm with their song Elevator Ride.
Joel Havea - Just People
I met Joel a few years ago through Global Music Match. At that time he was living in Germany, but he has since moved back to Melbourne. Personally, I'm really glad that he did because he just supported me for my recent album launch. And I have to say, he was phenomenal live. Just amazing. Joel has new music coming out really soon, but in the meantime, here is one of my favorite tracks of his, Just People.
Radical Son - Elder
This song gets me so excited about Australian music. I am a brand new fan of Radical Son. His latest single, Elder, is described as a deeply powerful statement of devotion to country and his Kamilaroi and Tongan cultures. I won't say any more but I urge you to stop, sit or stand and immerse yourself in this song.
Dana Gehrman - Easy To Slip
We are so lucky in this country to have amazing musicians and artists, and Dana is both. She is an amazing guitarist and an amazing singer songwriter. She is a plant lover, has fantastic hair and just oozes cool. I'm going to say it - she is the Bonnie Raitt of Brisbane.
The Weeping Willows - Black Crow
In my humble and completely biased opinion, The Weeping Willows are one of the most underrated groups in the Australian/Americana country world. They have been nominated for fourteen Golden Guitars and have won three. They have also received a Folk Alliance Award for Duo Of The Year. If you ever come across a tour poster of theirs, it's insane. They regularly tour the US, Europe, and extensively tour Australia. I could go on and on about these two, but instead, I'll let this song speak for itself.
Nathan Cavaleri - Cool Changes
Speaking of delightful humans, Nathan Cavaleri is definitely high on my list of lovely people. He is currently on tour with his latest album, Miracles. This song is my personal favourite from the album.
Gretta Ziller - All These Walls
This is my latest single and title track from my brand new album, All These Walls.
