Hailing from Sydney, Georgia Mooney is a celebrated singer-songwriter and accomplished multi-instrumentalist, best known for her work in the ARIA Award-winning All Our Exes Live In Texas. Now, Georgia has stepped out solo for the first time with Full of Moon, released in August. Georgia is on board for Australian Music Is Bloody Great to share some of her Australian music inspirations with community radio across the country.
Hannah Cameron - The Wrong Way
Hannah is a Melbourne artist. She has just released her third album, it is called Holding Pattern and it is a beauty. I highly recommend you check that one out. She has got a gorgeous voice but I think one of my favourite things about the way she writes her music is how she writes guitar riffs. She has got a great melodic sensibility. This song is a good example of that.
Lisa Caruso - Your Show
Lisa has just released a beautiful EP called Stretching. It was produced by another Sydney artist, David Trumpmanis, an amazing producer. It features this stellar session band. The production on this song is really exciting and the whole EP is really worth a listen. Listen out for the lush synth sounds. The backing vocals are really cool and Lisa has this incredible, sultry voice. It is a bit of a moody song, this one.
Ryan Downey - Lead Me
Melbourne artist Ryan Downey is one of our most beautiful romantic songwriters, I think. I played a show with Ryan once and said, on stage, that his voice had an indecent effect on me, which quite possibly made him very uncomfortable, but it is true. You will see what I mean. If you have no heard him before then prepare to be seduced. He's got a new EP coming out and has released three singles. Like all of the others on the EP, this song features the Budapest Art Orchestra. He has got these sublime orchestral arrangements, it is very special. The EP is called Songs For Dreamers, which will make a lot of sense when you hear this one.
Baby Velvet - Wild Cherry Tree Drive
Hannah is my band mate from All Our Exes Live In Texas. She goes by the moniker Baby Velvet. She has just released this new solo single.
Seja - Home
Seja has released a new album recently called Here Is One I Know You Know. It is so good. She is the queen of synths and produced the record herself in her home studio. It is absolutely chockas with incredible synth sounds. I had the pleasure of singing some back-up vocals on this one.
Georgia Mooney - Consider It A Gift
This is from my debut solo album, Full Of Moon. It has just come out. Give it a listen, I think it is quite good. This song features me on the piano and singing and has my friend Marcus playing some incredible and beautiful synths, creating this magical atmospheric sound. There are also these string arrangements by Rob Moose who is an amazing arranger from New York. This song is a bit of guilty confession set to a French-y sounding waltz. I hope you like it.
