RTRFM's Radiothon is back for 2016 and it's massive
WA's biggest radio fundraiser kicks off August 12-21.
RTRFM are one of the most important crews in the Perth music scene, using their radio platform to showcase small local bands, massive hip-hop superstars and everything in between. With recent cuts to funding in the arts sector and being a not-for-profit, their annual supporter drive, known to us as Radiothon, is super important in bringing in those crucial funds so they can keep doing their thing and supporting local, often overlooked talent. Returning August 12 for a mammoth nine days of celebrations, this year's Radiothon is their biggest yet, with some major, major incentives to get you subscribed as a supporter of the team. This year’s first prize is called the 'Ultimate Festival Experience' and includes a double pass to Southbound, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Camp Doogs, Nannup Music Festival, Fairbridge Festival, Breakfest and Groovin The Moo, sort of like triple j's 'Golden Ticket', which they give to a lucky winner who voted during the Hottest 100. There's also a mammoth home solar package (because just like the arts sector, the government don't really care about the environment either) and over 90 albums from RTRFM featured artists to give away.
RTRFM offers subscription packages for students and holders, bands, businesses, families, and offers special bonuses to Gold & Platinum subscribers, there's really no reason to sign up. Each subscription category has its own associated major prize, while subscribers who pay for their subscription upfront will be eligible for daily prizes which will be announced in the coming weeks. The major prize draws will be drawn on Saturday, October 15.
Prizes aside, this year's Radiothon also boasts a mammoth closing party named the RTRFM Radiothon Party, where 20 local acts will take over four spaces in Northbridge - The Bird, Ezra Pound, the State Theatre Centre Underground Foyer & Studio Underground - details and lineup below.
