Revisit a creepy af short film from the creators of Netflix hit Stranger Things
The Duffer Brothers started scaring audiences a while ago.
Netflix's latest hit series Stranger Things is currently taking binge-watching audiences around the world by storm, with fans flocking to the science fiction/horror hit and its 1980s inspired aesthetic. Inspired by the works of such genre, and decade, staples as Stephen King, George Lucas, John Carpenter and Stephen Spielberg, Stranger Things has emerged as the supernatural nostalgic hit that JJ Abrams directed film Super 8 (released 2011) had hoped to be. It even managed to attract the mixtape treatment from DJ Yoda earlier this week.
Yet keen-eyed film fans might well have seen the success of Stranger Things coming, with creators Matt and Ross Duffer having been working now for a number of years, perfecting their craft, and talents, for spooking audiences — as shown by recently dug up short film Eater.
Made while the Duffer Brothers attended college, Eater follows a rookie police officer who encounters supernatural activity, a mysterious monster and a lot of chaos, during a night on the job. Watch Eater below, and see if you can spot any similarites between the short and Stranger Things.
