Tkay Maidza announces National tour and debut album with new single, Carry On

Tkay grabs Killer Mike, one half of Run The Jewels, for a brill new release.

Having already emerged in the last two years as one of Australia's brightest young talents, Tkay Maidza returns today with new single Carry On, featuring a stellar guest verse from rapper Killer Mike — perhaps best known as one half of popular hip hop act Run the Jewels. Taking a moment to address her doubters and haters, Tkay Maidza comes out swinging with a dizzyingly solid delivery on Carry On, perfectly setting the stage for Killer Mike to swoop in and offer his input on the track.

The song is about people trying to stop my stride, but I guess what I'm trying to say is I have bigger issues that only matter to me as a youngin' at this point in my career and Killer Mike is reinforcing that. I’ve loved Run the Jewels for ages as they were the first act I saw at my favourite touring festival Laneway Festival. It was super inspiring to see them.  We had the idea of having him on a song and reached out to his team, they were totally down. It turned out to be Carry On," Tkay says of her latest release, "It was really cool that Mike listened to what I was saying in my verse as his verse is a conversation to mine... to him I must sound like I need guidance, and what he said was really reassuring and relevant for me. I think it's super important to have support from someone who has so much knowledge and experience in life and music... He is the first person who is a respected and loved rapper to have said they approve of what I do so having him on the song is super special.”

The release will find its home on upcoming album TKAY, the debut full-length from the BET Nominated rapper/singer, expected to see its release on October 28.

Of course, that isn't all the Australian talent has to offer her adoring fans, also announcing a National tour in support of her upcoming album. With Brisbane hip hop talent Midas.Gold and Pilerats Records' own Sable as support acts, general tickets go on sale September 1 and are expected to sell out.
