Sweats On The Beach: Yolanda Be Cool, Dena Amy & Go Freek's Beach Rave Essentials
Ahead of this weekend's Sweat It Out Beach Club at Sets On The Beach.
This weekend sees the final Sets On The Beach of the summer taking over Port Beach in Fremantle for their first ever full moon party, and the lineup is looking beyond stacked, featuring DJ Zinc & MC GQ, Julio Bashmore, Northeast Party House, Soul Clap, Wave Racer, Yorp DJs, Beach Haus and Young Franco. And alongside that already top shelf lineup, for the first time ever the legends at Sweat It Out! are hosting their own Beach Club stage, playing host to Dena Amy, Yolanda Be Cool, Go Freek and Mickey Kojak, and it looks extremely naughty:
To celebrate the announcement, we asked Yolanda Be Cool, Go Freek and Dena Amy for their beach rave essentials (we already interviewed Mickey the other day), so get yourself in the mood below, and click the image above to suss some tickets.
YOLANDA BE COOL
If the name doesn't already scream summer and beaches and parties and raves (or you don't speak Spanish) - then have a listen to this jam by LA's Dateless. It's a rolling marimba affair that it's pretty hard to NOT dance to. FIESTA TIME!!!! Released on Claude Von Stroke's DIRTYBIRD, we've been smashing it and it never disappoints. Not to mention - Dateless has an EP dropping very shortly on CLUB SWEAT so needless to say, he's one of our favs.
Post peak time beach rave, close-your-eyes-and-lose-yourself-in-the-moment-as-the-sun-sets jam of jams would have to go to &ME - Cape Coast. Live percussion just grows and grows and percolates and percolates and bubbles and bubbles and bubbles and filters and subsides then grows again. Eight minutes of post apocalyptic island hedonism at its best. Also never fails to get dem booties shaking.
DENA AMY
Henri Texier's Les La Bas (Bonobo Remix) is one of my favourite beach tunes, reminds me of being on a tropical island dancing in the sunset.
I've been playing this track in a bunch of my sets and it just gets the crowd ready to rave, perfect tune to get everyone off their feet and grooving. Keen to play it this weekend!
GO FREEK
This track goes off every time, hard to beat Detlef’s groove. And the old school hoover samples and sneaky Missy Elliot samples are the icing on the cake.
Billy Kenny is by far our favourite producer and the drums/sound design in this remix are insane. The way he juxtaposes the gentle breakdown with the chunky drop is great, and as always the mixing is perfect, it cuts through really hard on a good system!
