At the tail end of last year, Medium Rare Recordings head honcho and Sweat It Out signee Benson returned to form with Hollow, an addicting slice of house featuring Thom Crawford on vocals. Combining laid-back, blissful vocals with deep, pulsating bass, Hollow managed to blur the line between easy-listening and club-house, something he’s continued again with Step To Me. Sporting Jinja Safari’s Marcus Azon on vocal duties, Step To Me sees an ear-worm of a vocal line (“everytime you step to me / I feel like giving up / everytime you show your face / that’s how it all begins”) layered over an immense bassline, which throbs alongside a crisp synth melody and lashing percussion.
