Premiere: Teen Angst - Leaving Home
Take a listen to the west coast ‘antisocial-pop’ band’s endearing first new single in two years
Taking inspiration as much from the likes of Best Coast as they do Buffy The Vampire Slayer are Boorloo/Perth four-piece Teen Angst, whose irresistibly catchy and altogether too fun lof-fi indie pop sounds have seen them support the likes of Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, The Grates, The Beths, Bleeding Knees Club and more are back with their first new music in two years - Leaving Home, premiering on Pilerats today.
With an EP and string of singles to their name, Teen Angst have been busy at work crafting their debut full-length, with Leaving Home the upbeat and appropriately summery (for an Australian winter release) first single, giving us a taste of what to expect from the album.
Thematically grappling with the all too familiar complications that arise from moving out and making ends meet, singer and guitarist Michelle Yeong elaborates “Leaving Home was written back in 2020 when I was anticipating moving out of my parents’ home. It reflects both the excitement and anxiety that I was feeling in relation to living independently for the first time.”
Give Leaving Home a spin today ahead of its release tomorrow, and stay tuned for Teen Angst album details.
