Premiere: Kudu Joy - Clarity [Music Video]
Get a sneak peak at the new music video from Hobart alt-pop band’s new EP out tomorrow
Ahead of their Premonition EP out tomorrow, August 2, catch the music video for EP track Clarity courtesy of Hobart-based Kudu Joy, premiering on Pilerats today.
An uplifting slice of summery indie pop taking cues from not only chilled house music, but modern soul, r&b and funk, Kudu Joy lead vocalist Sabine Bester says of the track “I kind of created my own mantra to help me move forward and embrace the new community I now have around me. Lyrically, it expresses the weightlessness that comes from letting go of toxicity.
Musically, it makes me dance, which is eternally good for your health. And visually, it shows a woman in a ridiculous two-piece metallic jacket and shorts (sewn by yours truly), fanging a dirt bike across the West coast of Tassie, then having a bit of a sand dune party with her stunning friends. It's a radiant expression of gratification.”
And regarding the new video the band explain “Filming Clarity was an excellent excuse to explore the west coast of Tassie, and to learn about the process of writing and producing a visual piece. I collaborated with some amazing Tassie talent to get the final product, including Jacob Collings (cinematographer) and Takani Nimby (director).
We wanted to capture the mystique of friendship through a feminine lense. We delved into the world of Tarot, and told the story of self healing along the windswept coast of our island home.“
Check out the video for Clarity today and keep your eyes and ears peeled for Kudu Joy’s new EP Premonition out August 2.
