Introducing TOTTY and their cruisy as hell debut single, RIFF

Introducing TOTTY and their cruisy as hell debut single, RIFF

If laidback cruises down the coast are your jam, then these guys too, are your jam.

TOTTY are a two-iece rock'n'roll band born from a shed, whose real names are Chris Peruch and Kelly Jansch. Based in Wollongong, they've only been together a couple of months, but they've already developed a solid rep for good-time live shows to go with their equally breezy tunes. Kinda like Best Coast meets DUNE RATS, and pretty damn smooth. Check out their debut single, RIFF, below, and get to know 'em a little better under that.

Tell us about about yourselves?

Hey! We’re TOTTY (Chris and Kelly). We are a two piece from a little South Coast town called Berrara and we named the band after our dog. Her name's Totty…

What’s the vibe music-wise?

Lo-fi shed rock with a bit of a surfy influence. We can’t surf though.

Writing/recording process:

Well both of us play both guitar and drums, so we usually write the music parts together. Kell writes all the lyrics by herself, and Chris records, mixes and masters all our tracks. It was all recorded at Kell’s mum's house in Berrara. Shoutout to the RAR!

Can you tell us about your new single, RIFF?

Couple of our mates have tattoos that say R.I.F.F. It means "Remember It's For Fun", and we stole it off them and named our single that… Cheers as for that one boys. We pretty much wrote the song about going on tour with our friends’ in Grouse & The Ganaschz.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

We’re going on a tour just after the release of the single. A couple of the gigs are our headlines but most of them are us just supporting other friends’ bands like BRAD POT, Wavevom and Pals. They fuckin' rule. And then after that we are just gonna work on finishing up and releasing our EP and making some  merch; TOTTY dog jumpers, leads, collars… the usual. We’re gonna go on another tour when the EP comes out too.

Where can we hear more of your music?

RIFF’s the first single off the debut EP, but you can listen to that on SOUNDCLOUD and UNEARTHED. You can check out our FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM for EP updates :)
